With courtesy from omy.sg, I went for the gala of Mulan at Shaw Lido 1 last night. *blink*blink*
I remember watching the cartoon version from Disney when I was much much younger. The storyline of both is a little different.
Well, with regards to both that I’ve watched, I like this one more. Why? B’cos its not animated, there’s more real-life actions!
I believe most people already know the story of Mulan, so I’ll skip the story part and move to the directed film instead.
The show is a little funny at the start with Jaycee Chan (房祖名) being the most “joker”. However, when it gets into the middle of the show, the part where Mulan thought that Wentai died in the war, she was devastated and demoralized, the scene becomes draggy. If the part could be shorten and inserted with details of how Mulan disguised herself to get into the war camp, I think that would be better.
However, credits to the director Jingle Ma (马楚成) and the stars, who directed and acted exceptionally well. It makes you as sad as Mulan when you see soldiers being killed in the show due to the war, and when the moral of the soldiers are so high that they are so willingly to die for their general Mulan, it actually makes you feel that you want be part of them as well. It touches me and Dear too (though he don’t really like watching chinese film).
It an excellent and well-directed must watch film. Catch it in the cinema this coming Thursday!
